By accessing and using Darkcoal ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by the above, please do not use this service.

2. Service Description

Darkcoal is an AI-powered character creation and storytelling platform that allows users to:

  • Create and interact with AI characters
  • Generate stories and interactive adventures
  • Use AI-powered image generation and text-to-speech
  • Participate in social feeds and group chats

3. User Accounts and Authentication

To use Darkcoal, you must create an account using magic link authentication. By creating an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

4. Privacy and Data

Your privacy is important to us. Key points about data handling:

  • Local Storage: Your characters, stories, and chat data are stored locally in your browser
  • API Keys: Your API keys are sent securely with requests and never stored on our servers
  • Usage Tracking: We only track usage counts for subscription management
  • No Content Monitoring: We do not read, analyze, or store your generated content

5. Pricing and Coals

Coal System

Darkcoal uses a virtual currency called "Coals" for AI-powered features. Coals are consumed when generating text, images, or using other AI features.

Free Tier

All new users receive 100,000 free Coals to start. All features are accessible with Coals.

Coal Packs (One-Time Purchases)

  • $1 → 1,000,000 Coals
  • $5 → 5,500,000 Coals
  • $10 → 12,000,000 Coals

Subscriptions

  • BYOK ($5/month): Bring Your Own Keys - use your own API keys for unlimited usage
  • Monthly ($10/month): Receive 13,000,000 Coals per month

Billing Terms

  • Coal packs are one-time purchases and do not expire
  • Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time
  • Unused monthly Coals do not roll over
  • Price changes will be communicated 30 days in advance

6. Usage Limitations and Restrictions

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Generate illegal, harmful, or offensive content
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe on intellectual property rights
  • Attempt to reverse engineer or circumvent usage limits
  • Share or resell your account access
  • Use the service for commercial purposes without authorization

7. Content and Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of content you create using Darkcoal. However, you acknowledge that:

  • AI-generated content may not be subject to copyright protection
  • You are responsible for ensuring your content doesn't infringe others' rights
  • We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms

8. Service Availability and Modifications

We strive to maintain high service availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service with reasonable notice to users.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DARKCOAL SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or through the service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
